3 Bayside Eateries Named Among Queens' Best Outdoor Dining Spots
A Greek cafe with a garden and a Mediterranean bistro with a big patio are among the local spots named in Eater's best outdoor dining list.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — New Yorkers looking to dine outdoors should go to Bayside for some of Queens' best offerings, critics said.
Avli Greek Tavern on Bell Boulevard as well as Veranda and The Oasis Cafe on nearby Northern Boulevard all topped an Eater list of the best places to outdoor dine in Queens.
The Sweet Sap, located just over the border in Auburndale, was also named as one of the borough's best outdoor dining spots.

All told, 15 eateries were included on the list, which was updated this week as the city enters the throes of summer.
Editors deemed all the spots on the list enjoyable enough that diners "won't even miss the inside of the restaurant," but here's what they said specifically about Bayside's offerings.

Avli Greek Tavern lives up to its name
As Eater editors noted, Avli means backyard in Greek, and the restaurant lives up to its name. Located on bustling Bell Boulevard between 39th and 38th avenues, the eatery's appeal is a "pretty patio" complete with "stone floors, a tree-lined garden and a white fence," editors said. The space makes Avli's classic Greek dishes — like gyro and tzatziki — even better, according to Eater. Find out more details here.
Veranda feels like a cruise ship
This Mediterranean-American bistro is located on Northern Boulevard between 208th and 209th streets, but restaurant-goers might as well be on a cruise ship, according to Eater. Editors described Veranda's giant all-beige patio as akin to a boat, complete with "unrivaled" spaciousness. The patio is best enjoyed on a warm afternoon while eating grilled octopus and lamb chops, editors said. Find out more details here.
The Oasis Cafe has a hidden garden
This Greek cafe's updated back patio — now dubbed the "Oasis Garden" — is worth a visit, editors said. Dotted with palm leaves and tiki torches, the garden lives up to its name, according to Eater, and is the perfect spot to enjoy baklava or berry Napoleons. The Oasis Cafe is located on Northern Boulevard just off of Francis Lewis Boulevard. Find out more details here.
Nearby, the Sweet Sap is worth a date night visit
Situated at the edge of Auburndale on Northern Boulevard and 190th Street, this eatery is worth a visit for date night, editors said. The outdoor garden, which is fully enclosed with air conditioning or heating depending on the season, is decked out in romantic twinkle lights, according to Eater. Find out more details here.
