Good morning, Little Neck! In addition to being a harbinger of spring and the traditional beginning of baseball season, April also includes a celebration of American poetry — in all its forms. 

So whether it's an at the Little Neck Plaza Starbucks tonight, a at Great Neck Library this week or two readings this month at the Barnes & Noble in Fresh Meadows, there's no excuse not to enjoy the talents of local, regional and national wordsmiths.

1. Hello, 70s! The temps really start to warm up later this afternoon, with scattered thunderstorms expected throughout the region tonight. Looks like spring has finally sprung here, folks. 

2. Coming on the heels of a successful push to ban smoking at city parks and beaches is this proposal in Nassau County to institute a $1,000 fine for lighting up in a car with occupants age 14 or younger.
