Bayside Cafe Tops List Of NYC's Best Asian Dessert Spots
The Northern Boulevard cafe sells Korean rice cakes and shaved ice sweets that are among the best Asian desserts in NYC, Eater says.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Some of the best Korean desserts in the city are sold in Bayside, critics say.
Yedang, a cafe on the corner of Northern Boulevard and 210th Street, was named by Eater as among the 18 best spots in NYC to get "excellent" Asian desserts.
The eatery differentiates itself from other spots selling Korean rice cake and bingsu (a shaved ice dessert) for its use of traditional ingredients, like dried persimmon and black soybeans, editors said.

Among the many items, Eater says the "standout" rice cakes include a soft, honey rice cake filled with "sweet honey sesame" filling and a more "glutinous" offering with chestnuts, jujubes, and nuts.
A Korean-style mochi, known as chapssal dduk, is also among the cafe's best offerings, and is filled with a "subtle" red bean paste and topped with rice powder, according to editors.

Yedang, which first opened at 210-3 Northern Boulevard since 2014, is part of a tri-state area chain, with another outpost in New Jersey.
This isn't the first time that Eater editors recognized a northeast Queens Korean restaurant as one of the borough's best spots: editors named two Korean eateries in the area as among Queens' hottest new restaurants last month.
