Bayside Church to Bless Pets on Aug. 11
Church's pastor said he intends to expand event every year.
The Bayside United Methodist Church will host its annual "Blessing of the Animals" on Aug. 11 along Bell Boulevard.
Rev. William Wendler said the house of worship, located at 38-20 Bell Blvd., would say an individual prayer for local residents' four-legged friends on its front lawn and that refreshments - for both pets and their owners - would follow the blessings.
"The church wants to be more involved in the Bell Boulevard community, so we're doing this on a much larger scale this year and we'll expand it every year," Wendler said.
Each pet owner will be given a framable certificate for their blessed pet.
The event begins at 11 a.m.
