Bayside Group Calls On LI Lawmaker To Back Bill To Expel George Santos

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A group of Bayside and Long Island residents called on Republican lawmaker Anthony D’Esposito to co-sponsor legislation to expel Rep. George Santos from office last week.

Concerned Citizens of NY-03, a group of constituents in Santos's district, wrote a letter to the Rep. D’Esposito on Friday demanding he co-sponsor a resolution calling for the embattled Republican's resignation.

D’Esposito represents New York's 4th congressional district, which encompasses central and southern areas of Nassau County.

"You have spoken publicly about the need to expel Santos from Congress," said Jody Kass Finkel, the founder of the constituents' group. "It’s time for you to take concrete action to support your stated position."

The request from the citizens' group comes after a group of House Democrats filed a resolution in February looking to expel the Republican.

D’Esposito was the first House Republican to call for Santos to resign earlier this year.

The freshman lawmaker faces multiple investigations about campaign finances and much of his background has come under fire after a bombshell report from The New York Times.

Polls also show that nearly eighty percent of the district he represents want to expel him from his seat.
