BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A group of Bayside and Long Island residents urged Republican lawmaker Nicholas J. LaLota to sign legislation to expel Rep. George Santos from office Monday.

Concerned Citizens of NY-03, a group of constituents in Santos's district, wrote a letter to Rep. LaLota demanding he sign a resolution calling for the embattled Republican's resignation.

“Congressman LaLota, we applaud these public statements about the need to expel Santos from Congress, but so far you have been unwilling to take the logical next step,” reads the letter. “Your unwillingness to sign onto this Resolution calls into question the sincerity of your declarations of outrage.”

A group of democrats submitted a resolution to remove Santos from his seat, a measure that has been highly supported by his own constituents, in February.

The letter comes about a week after the group also called on Long Island lawmaker Anthony D’Esposito to co-sponsor the legislation to expel Santos, who represents parts of Long Island and Queens.

The cohort of constituents is actively organizing to demand action against Santos ever since The New York Times revealed in December the lawmaker fabricated his resume to include false details about his professional and educational background.

Concerned Citizens of NY-03 caravaned from Long Island to Queens as a protest against Santos in February.
