BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A group of voters from the district represented by Rep. George Santos were disappointed to hear about his run for re-election in 2024.

Santos, who represents parts of Queens and Long Island, announced his bid for re-election on Monday, stirring up anger among a cohort of constituents that believe “he is an affront to our society.”

“Santos has delivered nothing but embarrassment to our district,” said Jody Kass, coordinator of the group Concerned Citizens of NY3. “Santos’s audacity knows no bounds."

The freshman lawmaker is running for a second term as he faces several allegations about fabrications in his resume, including where he attended school and his professional background.

"We need a fighter who knows the district and can serve the people fearlessly," Santos said in his announcement for re-election.

Several county and federal investigations, including one launched by the House Ethics Committee, are looking into his campaign finance irregularities.

The group of voters in New York’s 3rd congressional district has organized several events to call for Santos’s resignation. Constituents have traveled to Washington D.C., caravaned across the district and urged lawmakers to call upon his resignation as well.

Polls also show an overwhelming amount of New Yorkers want the embattled Republican to resign.

In February, a group of House Democrats filed a resolution to remove Congressman George Santos from the body.
