BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Dozens of constituents from Bayside and Long Island traveled to Washington D.C. on Tuesday to demand Congress vote to expel Rep. George Santos from his seat.

On Tuesday afternoon, the constituents of New York’s 3rd Congressional District and several lawmakers arrived at Capitol Hill to urge Speaker Kevin McCarthy to boot the embattled Republican amid the controversy of the fabrications during his campaign.

“Speaker McCarthy, how do you justify this utter waste of taxpayer money?,” Jody Kass, coordinator of the group Concerned Citizens of NY3, said during the press conference. “The residents of NY-03 are beyond frustrated with your inactions, and I’m talking about both Democrats and Republicans.”

NY-03 residents delivered a petition signed by more than 1,500 constituents to Santos’ office, as well as the Republican leadership, calling for a vote to expel him from Congress.

“We know George Santos is not going to resign on his own,” said Rep. Daniel Goldman. “It’s going to have to come from the top.”

The conference comes as Santos, who represents parts of Queens and Nassau County, faces mounting allegations of fabricating his work history, education, and religion during his campaign.

Federal and county investigations are also looking into the campaign finances of the freshman lawmaker, who who said he still intends to serve as the district representatives despite the many calls to resign from constituents.

Santos was most recently accused of sexual harassment, which involved a former aide who was hired last month. Santos called the allegations "comical" in an interview with CNN, and said he "100 percent" denies them.
