The local man caused about $13,000 of damage to 27 cars, according to the District Attorney's Office.
BAYSIDE, NY — A Bayside man faces 50 criminal mischief charges for slashing tires in the neighborhood and causing about $13,000 worth of damage to 27 cars, according to District Attorney Melinda Katz’s Office.
Dee Lazersmith, 42, was charged Wednesday after surveillance footage — which showed him slashing tires over the course of six hours on Aug. 7 between 213th Street and Corporal Kennedy Avenue— led to his arrest, prosecutors said.
Police also found a folding knife with a piece of rubber caught on the blade that matched one of the cars, Katz's Office reported.

“As alleged, this defendant caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damage by going on a slashing spree alongside a quiet residential street,” Katz said in a statement.
“More than two dozen victims must now pay to repair and replace the vandalized vehicle tires. This senseless nuisance will not be tolerated in Queens County. The defendant is now charged accordingly and faces prison time if convicted.”
