Bayside Power Outage Was Due To Cable Failure, ConEd Says

Nearly 1,400 ConEdison customers in Bayside lost power Tuesday afternoon.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — An outage that cut power to hundreds of homes in Bayside Tuesday was due to a problem with a cable, provider ConEdison said Wednesday.

The underground cable failed, the company said. A spokesman was unable to give details on what caused the failure.

The outage left 1,400 people without power between 2.42 p.m. and 7.33 p.m. Tuesday.
