BAYSIDE, QUEENS – As Breast Cancer Awareness Month ended, Bayside real estate agents' fundraising efforts were just starting.

Steven Llorens and eight other employees at Douglas Elliman Bayside participated in a seven-day relay from Long Island to Manhattan last weekend to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, and continue to receive donations to reach their $10,000 for the end of the year.

“I felt inspired by my teammates that were dedicated,” Llorens told Patch. “We all created a bond with each other and, more importantly, we raised a significant amount of money for this cause.”

From Oct. 20 to Oct. 27, Llorens and his teammates ran, cycled or walked 150 miles from Montauk to Manhattan and finished at American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, located at 132 West 32nd Street.

The team members, who trained for several weeks prior to the journey, also made several stops that focused on combating cancer, including the Southampton Medical Center and several Stop & Shops, which are ACS corporate sponsors.
