Bayside Sushi Eatery Closes After 15 Years: Neighbors, Online Photos

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A Bayside sushi spot has permanently shuttered its doors, according to neighbors, online listings and a photo of a farewell message posted on its front door.
Sushi Bell, at 36-28 Bell Boulevard, posted sign on its front door notifying customers they'd closed, according to a photo posted to Yelp on Nov. 26.
"We have been really happy to serve customers like you for last 15 years," the sign reads.

Patch's repeated attempts to reach owners were unsuccessful as the telephone had been disconnected.
Reviews on Yelp show diners appreciated the small, family-owned business.

"I love this little family-run, neighborhood spot!" one reviewer wrote. "This is the one of only places I order sushi."
The restaurant received an A grade from the city's Health department, but did receive some violations last summer and in 2021, city records show.
The first violations date back to July 29th, 2021, when city officials found that plumbing was not properly installed and that pesticides were being inadequately used.
The sushi joint’s latest violation date was last June, when officials found that cold foods, such as fish, were being stored above the required temperature, among other violations, according to city data.
