Bayside Woman, 88, Killed Crossing Bell Boulevard: NYPD
An 88-year-old Bayside woman was fatally struck by a van driver as she crossed Bell Boulevard midday Sunday, according to the police.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — An 88-year-old Bayside woman was killed crossing Bell Boulevard midday Sunday, according to the police.
Dolores Soho was crossing Bell at 48th Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Sunday when a van driver crashed into her as he was turning left onto the boulevard, police said.
First responders rushed Soho to North Shore University Hospital, where she died.

The 60-year-old driver, who was behind the wheel of a 2006 Ford van, currently faces no charges, but the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is still reviewing the incident.
Soho is the second senior to be killed in a crash on Bell Boulevard this month. Both pedestrians were struck by drivers turning left onto Bell.

Deborah Scherer, a 64-year-old Oakland Gardens resident, died three days after a driver slammed into her the evening of Feb. 6 and left her with severe head trauma.
Scherer had been crossing Bell at 75th Avenue when the driver turned left onto the boulevard and hit her. She died at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens hospital.
