Bayside Woman Killed In Deadly Avalanche In Washington State: Sheriff

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A 60-year-old Bayside woman was among the three people that died in an avalanche in Washington state on Sunday, officials confirmed.
Jeannie Lee and two others died in an avalanche near Colchuck Lake on Feb. 19 after a group of six attempted to climb Colchuck Peak, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said.
Lee, Yun Park from New Jersey and Seong Cho from Connecticut died from trauma after the avalanche, officials said.

Their bodies remained at the scene as of Wednesday, according to a press release.
The avalanche was activated after the group attempted to climb the over 8,000-foot peak and four of the climbers were swept down about 500 feet, according to the sheriff’s office.

The surviving climber, a 54-year-old man from New York, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
