Baysider Turns 105-Years-Old After Surviving COVID Twice: Report
Paul Barberio celebrated his 105th birthday on Monday after surviving two bouts of COVID during the year before, ABC7 reported.
BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Paul Barberio, of Bayside, has a lot to celebrate.
The northeast Queens resident turned 105-years-old on Monday, after surviving two bouts of COVID in his 104th year, ABC7 reported.
Last January, Barberio was admitted to North Shore University Hospital with COVID; he had a bad cough, but otherwise needed very little medical intervention, the news outlet reported.

Dr. Suhail Shah even called Barberio "one of my easiest patients," noting that he was never close to being put on a ventilator, unlike many other people — especially the elderly and immunocompromised — who require that level of care in order to fight the coronavirus.
Eleven days after being admitted, Barberio was sent home in good health. Dr. Shah credits his survival to good genes and his tough demeanor.

"I feel fine," Barberio told ABC7 reporters as he was wheeled out of the hospital en route to his home.
Later in the year, however, Barberio contracted COVID again, and beat the virus again, the outlet reported.
On Monday, the great-grandfather had something other than COVID-recovery to toast-to: his 105th birthday, which he celebrated with loved ones who told reporters that he remains "healthy" and "happy."
