BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Neighbors in Bayside don't have to go farther than the Bay Terrace Shopping Center to eat giant, gooey cookies as of this week.

Chip City, a local chain known for its oversized cookies that come in an array of fun flavors, opened its first Bayside outpost Friday at 23-96 Bell Boulevard; formerly the site of a shuttered women's boutique at the shopping center.

The grand opening, which has been in the works for a few months, also marked the opening of Chip City's 11th location in New York; the cookie company's flagship location is in Astoria, and it operates four other shops in Queens, in addition to five locations across Brooklyn and Manhattan.

In celebration of its citywide cookie expansion, the first 100 people who bought something at Bayside's Chip City got an additional free cookie-of-the-day. The store also set up games and gave customers chances to win prizes, it said.

Similar to other Chip City stores, the Bayside outpost will stock several cookie flavors per-day that rotate out on a regular basis.

"Oh my goodness!!! Finally!!!! I saw the sign lit up this week," wrote one neighbor.

"Yesssss I literally can not wait!!!" wrote another.

A third neighbor joked about setting up a tent in front of the store to wait for its opening, and several others tagged friends in the comments asking to visit Chip City Bayside this weekend.

Chip City at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
