Black Friday Guide for Northeast Queens

Find out which stores are opening early and offering sales.

Northeast Queens residents will be able to get a head start on their holiday shopping as a number of stores at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center plan on opening early and offering sales.

Also, the Bayside Village Business Improvement District will take part in an event involving Bell Boulevard stores for Small Business Saturday.

For Black Friday, most Bay Terrace shop owners said they were offering sales throughout the day. Here is a roundup of opening times and sales for several stores at the center.

Ann Taylor Loft- The store is opening at 6 a.m. and offering 50 percent off from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then 40 percent from 1 p.m.

Barnes and Noble- The bookstore will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be special sales, but they have not yet been announced.

Bath and Body Works- The store opens at 6 a.m. and will offer sales throughout the day.

Carter’s- All items will be 50 percent off throughout the day. The store opens at 6 a.m.

Express- The store opened at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving and will remain open through 10 p.m. today. All items will be 50 percent off until noon.

Footlocker- The store will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be sales on various items, such as Jordan sneakers and Nike Air Max 90s.

Yankee Candle Co.- The store opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. For the first four hours, seven-ounce jars will be sold for $5.

The Bayside BID is also taking part in a Small Business Saturday event tomorrow that will include participation by a number of Bell Boulevard stores.

Lyle Sclair, executive director of the BID, said Karma Boutique would be holding a party during the sale and that Bell Bay Florist was also participating in the day-long event.

Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 as a way for shoppers to patronize smaller stores as opposed to Black Friday, when millions across the nation flock to big box retail stores. It is celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
