BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A truck full of giant, gooey cookies is setting up shop in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center parking lot.

Chip City, a local chain known for its oversized cookies that come in an array of fun flavors, is parking its dessert van in front of SoBol in Bay Terrace on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. until they sell out — which is usually in a matter of hours, though a Chip City spokesperson said that people can stay on top of truck updates through the cookie chain's Instagram stories.

Similar to other Chip City stores, the van will stock four cookie flavors per-day that rotate out on a regular basis. Details on the week's flavors are also posted on Instagram.

The bi-weekly truck is a precursor to a more permanent setup in Bayside. In early 2022 Chip City plans to open a brick-and-mortar shop at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center at 23-96 Bell Boulevard, the spokesperson told Patch.

The new outpost will be Chip City's first in northeast Queens, but hardly its first in the borough: Chip City's flagship location is in Astoria, and it has three other shops in northwest Queens, in addition to five locations across Brooklyn and Manhattan.

By the end of this year that list will include another Chip City store in Forest Hills, which is slated to open in mid-Dec., a spokesperson told Patch. The cookie chain is also planning to open locations in Tribeca and Newark, New Jersey soon.

Baysiders were thrilled to hear about the truck; a post in a local Facebook group garnered over 100 "likes," with dozens of neighbors vouching for the cookies in the thread.

"I bought 6 and ate half of one," wrote one person, attesting to the oversized cookies' size.

"[These cookies are] so good that I am posting about them! I think they are great," wrote another.

A third was excited to have a Chip City location closer to home: "Yay I no longer have to drive to the Williamsburg store," they wrote.
