Despite Rumors, Dollar Tree Not Opening On Bell Boulevard

When locals heard about Walgreens' imminent closure, many guessed that Dollar Tree would move in. The store responds here.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Ever since Patch reported that Bayside's sole Walgreens will permanently close Feb. 15, neighbors have been taking guesses at what will open at the soon-to-be shuttered pharmacy.

Recently, a rumor started to circulate on a neighborhood Facebook page that a Dollar Tree will open up at the Bell Boulevard storefront, but a spokesperson from the store told Patch that is not the case.

"We do not have any current plans to open a store in [Bayside], or the surrounding area," a spokesperson told Patch over email.

Reached for comment last month, a Walgreens spokesperson did not respond to Patch's inquiry as to what will happen to the building once the pharmacy shutters.

The storefront, located at 39-20 Bell Boulevard on the corner of 39th Avenue, is owned by Success Bell LLC — a corporation that bought the building last July to the tune of $14 million, property records show.
