BAYSIDE, QUEENS — The site of a longtime Bayside pharmacy is being converted into a medical facility, plans show.

For over a decade a Rite Aid stood near the corner of Francis Lewis Boulevard and 27th Avenue, but workers got approval to turn the building into a doctor's office in November, according to a Department of Building's permit.

Ongoing construction caught the eye of some locals this week, who took to Facebook to guess what was being built (some accurately predicted a medical office, whereas others said it might be an Olive Garden; an ongoing joke among neighbors).

The building upgrade is relatively minor, simply requiring new electrical wiring and sprinklers, and should be completed by June, a filing shows.

Rite Aid shuttered its location at 27-07 Francis Lewis Boulevard a couple of years ago, but the chain pharmacy operates another outpost on Bell Boulevard.

The chain pharmacy previously had a third outpost in Bayside, which was turned into a Walgreens and then shuttered this month, Patch reported.

It remains to be seen what will happen to that building — located at 39-20 Bell Boulevard — since permits for a demolition or new building haven't been filed at the location as of Feb. 25.
