Elderly Woman Fatally Hit By Elderly Driver In Queens: NYPD

An 83-year-old driver was backing out of a garage when he fatally hit a 75-year-old woman, pinning her under the car, police said.

OAKLAND GARDENS, QUEENS — An 83-year-old driver fatally hit a 75-year-old woman in northeast Queens Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The elderly driver was backing a sedan out of a garage behind 73-55 217 Street, a duplex in Oakland Gardens, when he hit Georgiana Belfiore at about 3:35 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Belfiore, who was standing behind the car at the time of the accident, got pinned under the sedan, and couldn't be saved by first responders said police, who pronounced her dead at the scene.

Videos posted to Citizen show fire and police officials cordoning off the parking garages where the accident occurred, which are located within a residential complex in Oakland Gardens.

Belfiore lived nearby, on the opposite side of the residential complex located on 220th Street, NYPD records show.

As of Wednesday the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad, according to police.
