Free Mammograms Offered in May

The American Italian Cancer Foundation and Councilman Mark Weprin, D-Oakland Gardens, are sponsoring free mammograms on May 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as well as no-cost breast exams.

Women over the age of 40 years who live in New York Cuty and have not had a mammogram in the past year should come to the mobile van outside Weprin's office at 73-03 Bell Blvd. in Bayside.

Those interested need to make an appoint with Gary Yeung (718) 468-0137.

A recent Michigan sudy underscores the importance of once reaching the age of 40.

Last week Councilman Dan Halloran's, R-Whitestone, office announced that a recent free screening they had resulted in recommendations to two women to receive crucial follow up exams.
