Fundraiser For Fresh Meadows Teen Found Dead Raises Over $18K

The 17-year-old died on Monday after being found unresponsive in her front yard, police said.

FRESH MEADOWS, QUEENS — An effort to raise money for the burial of a 17-year-old girl who died mysteriously this week in Fresh Meadows had raised over $18,000 as of Friday.

The GoFundMe campaign for the family of Yixuan Yin says the money raised will be given to Yin's mother to help cover the cost of the funeral and burial.

The fundraiser was started by the teen's cousin, Zhengjun Wu.

As of Friday morning, it had raised $18,076 — well over its $10,000 goal.

Yin was found laying unconscious in the grass outside her home on 186th street about 1:15 a.m. on Monday, the NYPD said. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

In the GoFundMe, Wu said the death is still under investigation.

Wu wrote in the campaign that her cousin, a student at LaGuardia Community College, was a "smart and beautiful girl" who hoped to become a designer.

Yin is described as her mother's "earth and sun."

"Her daughter was her everything," Wu wrote in the GoFundMe. " She would give anything to bring her back. Yixuan's mom raised her daughter as a single mother and never expected to see her daughter leave the earth before her."

According to her cousin, Yin loved to draw, sing and be on her phone and laptop.

"Most of all," Wu wrote, "she loved playing with her cat Yuanbo."
