George Santos's Father, Aunt Paid $500K Bond In May: Feds
Gercino dos Santos and Elma Preven paid for the embattled lawmaker's $500,000 bond after he was charged with fraud last month, records show.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Blood is thicker than water, and Rep. George Santos's family proved it after they paid for his $500,000 bond after he was arrested in May, according to court records.
Gercino dos Santos and Elma Preven, Santos's father and aunt, paid for the embattled lawmaker's bond after he was charged with fraud in connection to his campaign last year for Congress, according to documents from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
Santos is awaiting trial after he pleaded not guilty in federal court to a 13-count indictment, including seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, two counts of making false statements to the House, and one count of theft of public funds.

Dos Santos and Preven agreed to be "personally responsible" for making sure Santos shows up to court and follow the conditions of his bond, according to the court documents.
The congressman, who represents Bayside and parts of Long Island, told reporters he'll "keep fighting to defend his innocence," and has no plans to step down.
