Get A Free IDNYC Card At Bayside Pop-Up Center This Week

IDNYC will host a pop-up enrollment center in Bayside until Oct. 30. Here's how to get your free city identification card.

BAYSIDE, NY -- Bayside residents have one more week to snatch up a free New York City identification card from the comfort of their neighborhood.

The Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, at 203-05 32nd Ave. in Bayside, is serving as a pop-up enrollment center for IDNYC until Oct. 30. The government-issued photo identification card grants its holder a lengthy list of perks that include access to libraries, a free yearlong membership to popular museums and zoos, and discounts at select gyms and supermarkets.

Any New Yorker aged 14 and over can sign up for an IDNYC card by simply bringing their proof of identity and New York City residency to the pop-up enrollment center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. The pop-up center closes temporarily for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m. each day, according to the IDNYC website.

The IDNYC card, which first launched in 2015, is a a municipal identification card that can be presented as proof of identification to police and even used to open accounts with select banks. It's available to New Yorkers in all five boroughs, regardless of immigration status, and free to those who sign up through the end of the year, according to the website.

Those applying for an IDNYC card at the pop-up site or any of the 26 regular IDNYC enrollment centers must make an appointment beforehand either online or by calling 311. The identification card will arrive by mail.
