Halloween Family Fun Day Planned For Bayside This Weekend

Families can put on Halloween costumes and head to downtown Bayside for pumpkin picking, slime making, spooky stories and more.

BAYSIDE, NY -- Families looking for some wholesome Halloween fun can throw on their cleverest costumes and head to Bayside Sunday for some pumpkin picking, creepy crafts and spooky stories appropriate for all ages.

The Bayside Village Business Improvement District will host its fourth annual Halloween Family Fun Day. The event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., includes Halloween-themed storytelling, a magic show, mini dance classes and live music.

Costume-clad kids roaming the event on 41st Avenue between Bell Blvd and 213th Street can stop in at a creepy craft station to make their own slime or at the pumpkin patch.

Halloween Family Fun Day is part of the Bayside Village BID's ongoing effort to connect businesses and community members in the area with family-friendly events, a spokeswoman told Patch. The nonprofit group works to support small businesses in the Bayside area.

The day will start at 11 a.m. with (Not So) Spooky Stories sponsored by Turn the Page Again Bookstore. The used bookstore, located at 39-15A Bell Blvd., is a Whitestone non-profit operated by Transitional Services that help ease people with psychiatric illness back into the workforce.

At noon children can gather around Mappi the Clown for games and a magic show. Mini dance classes for kids will follow at 1:30 p.m., courtesy of Queens Dance project, located at 214 -26 41st Ave. The day will round out with some live entertainment from 2 to 4 p.m.

Bounce houses sponsored by Sen. Tony Avella will be up all day at the event, along with a makeshift pumpkin patch where families can snap photos, play games and even snag a free pumpkin while supplies lasts. Craft stations will also be up to keep children busy throughout the day making their own jack-o-lanterns, slime or mini haunted houses.
