Heroin Ring Bust Leads To Arrest Of Bayside Man

Prosecutors seized four kilograms of heroin, $100,000 cash and three guns

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A Bayside man is accused being part of a drug ring that prosectuors said sold heroin through Brooklyn and Queens.

Alex Aybar, 47, was among five men charged Wednesday. Their arrests in Brooklyn led to the seizure of four kilograms of heroin, $100,000 cash and three guns, prosecutors announced.

The men were charged with selling heroin in East New York, Bushwick and Queens, the U.S. Attorney's office announced.

A sixth man was also arrested and charged with heroin possession, according to prosecutors

Prosecutors identified the suspects as Aybar, Dino "Dinito" Sanchez, 40, and Raliek "Burger" Brown, 36, from East New York, Melvin "Mel" Sanabria, 42, from East Rockaway, Rogelio "Macho" Vargas, 43, from East New York, and Ramon "Junior" Sanabria, 48, of South Ozone Park.

Federal agents arrested the six men Wednesday morning after raiding their homes, two stash houses and two cars, and seizing drugs, cash, three guns and various drug paraphernalia, said prosecutors.

Sanchez is suspected of using luxury cars as code to discuss the quality of the drugs he allegedly sold, texting Melvin Sanabria that he had “Bentley” and a “Phantom,” prosecutors said.

Melvin later complained of the quality of the product, replying, “I dont rent hondas or acuras ... Around here we drive benz n lambos,” referring to Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghinis, according to prosecutors.

The group was held without bail and could face between 10 years to life in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.
