'Hottest' Queens' Eateries List Includes 2 Northeast Queens Spots

A Korean BBQ eatery on Bell Boulevard and a Korean fried chicken counter in Douglaston are among the "hottest" spots in Queens, Eater says.

BAYSIDE-DOUGLASTON, QUEENS — Two Korean restaurants that opened in northeast Queens last month are already among the 'hottest' restaurants in Queens, critics say.

Mister Seoul, a Korean BBQ restaurant that opened on Bayside's Bell Boulevard, and Rokstar Chicken, a Korean fried chicken shop operating out of a Douglaston supermarket, were both named among the 15 "hottest new restaurants in Queens" by Eater editors this month.

The eateries opened in Dec. — Mister Seoul at 39-35 Bell Boulevard and Roksar Chicken at 242-02 61st Avenue in a Douglaston Food Bazaar — but both are already among the list of restaurants frequented by "NYC's dining obsessives," Eater says.

Mister Seoul

Eater editors described Mister Seoul as a "sleek, neon-lit" spot to enjoy all the fixings of Korean BBQ.

Among the food offerings, editors call out the restaurant's traditional meat cuts, like boneless short rib wet-aged for two weeks and "hard-to-find" beef tongue.

For a break from meat, editors also recommend Mister Seoul's seafood pancakes, dumpling soup, and Makku makgeolli, a rice beer.

Rokstar Chicken

The fried chicken at Rockstar Chicken is the "crispiest chicken in New York," according to owner Mark Lee, who's also behind Spot Dessert Bar, a "whimsical" dessert spot with outposts in Manhattan and Queens.

Editors confirm that the wings at Rokstar Chicken are "juicy," and served along an array of sauces, including soy garlic and sweet chili.

For something on the side, there's everything from cole slaw to truffle oil fries, editors say.

This isn't the first time that Eater editors recognized a Bayside restaurant as one of the borough's best new spot: editors named The Shack 48, a recently-opened Cajun-style seafood restaurant in Bayside, as one of Queens' hottest new restaurants.
