Is This Bayside Home Haunted?

A man living at the intersection of 213th St. and 39th Ave. thinks his home may be haunted.

Patch asked several weeks ago to hear your own . This story, submitted by Michael Kalsow, was the creepiest. Here it is, in its unedited form.

Tell us in the comments if you believe Kalsow is roommates with a ghost. And if you've ever spotted what you think was a ghost in Bayside, let us know in the comments section.

My name is Michael, I’m a 31 year old IT professional who recently moved in to an apartment near the intersection of 213th St and 39th Ave in Bayside. My roommate and I have been there for less than 4 months but we’ve already experienced some strange happenings. I was searching online for any historical information I could find and I came , so I decided to write to you.

About what we’ve experienced…. The first week we were in the apartment we were hearing strange noises, mostly knocking sounds coming from the front, common area of the apartment while we were in the back in our bedrooms. A couple weeks after was the first time I heard footsteps going down the hallway, and I heard them once again about a month ago.

My roommate had an encounter one afternoon while he was sitting in the living room (front of the apartment) watching TV, he clearly heard what sounded like a tennis ball being dropped onto the wooden floor right behind the TV, and the bounces getting closer together as the ball lost momentum.

This past Wednesday my roommate was at the apartment with a friend of his. As they were about to leave they went to put their shoes on and my roommate’s friend said “do u have a ghost here?”, my roommate replied “yeah I think so, I told you about the things that have happened to us here, right?” and his friend said “no you didn’t, but I just went to put my shoes on and the laces are undone…. I never undo my laces, I just slide my shoes off.” That was weird enough, but that night I ran into my landlord who lives downstairs and he asked me if we were playing guitar at 1:30am on Monday night. I said I definitely wasn’t, but I’d have to ask my roommate about him. But I knew my roommate wasn’t even in the apartment that night, he stayed at his girlfriend’s place.

So, on Wednesday night I called a friend of mine when I went to sleep and I left my phone on speaker to see if she could hear any strange sounds. She goes to bed much later than me and she was interested in the stories I told her. Besides me talking in my sleep, she heard a woman’s voice say something which she couldn’t quite make out.

Anyways, I’m still not 100% sure that the place is haunted since I, myself, have only encountered a few strange noises and the footsteps but I thought I’d share these stories with you.

Sincerely,

Michael Kalsow
