Little nuggets of knowledge to kick off your Wednesday.

1. Bad news, Little Neck. Unless you're a some sort of cactus or desert-bred lizard, odds are you won't care for the weather that faces us today. The good news, though, is that you can always cool off at the Fort Totten pool!
2. A burnt wire left for much of Tuesday afternoon, notably , whose employees were scrambling to sell off the store's perishable stock. The reason for the outage is unknown, but firefighters suspect it has something to do with one too many businesses blasting their air-conditioning.
3. The city will be holding a lottery for a select number of same-sex couples to be among the first to wed Sunday, as demand for the city clerk's services has greatly exceeded capacity. In Queens, 112 spots will be available. Those interested can register at NYC.gov.

4. Mars Bar, a legendary East Village dive that historically served as a haven for punks, junkies, artists and their hangers-on, has finally been shuttered by the Department of Health, following reports of a fruit fly infestation, among other things. You sure were gross, Mars Bar, but you will be missed.
5. FBI agents have reportedly raided homes in Merrick, Baldwin and Brooklyn in an ongoing investigation into the notorious hacker group known as Anonymous, the Long Island Press reports.
