July 9: Five Things You Need to Know Today

Happy weekend, Little Neck. This one is only two days, sadly, but we'll enjoy ourselves nonetheless.

1. The height of the recession may be over, but unemployment remains high across the country, including, unfortunately, northeast Queens.

2. Even if you missed opening night of the 's show in Brooklyn, the exhibit will be on display for the next few months. And if you went, be sure to go back: the show will be changing as the month wears on!

3. Good news, car-owners! Marathon Parkway is no longer a bumpy nightmare of loose gravel! Check out our photo gallery of the freshly paved road later today.

4. Summer means "dip," both in the pool and with chips. for the latter variety.

5. Weather: Despite yesterday's rain, today is shaping up to be nice and sunny. Now get out there and enjoy it!
