Man Chasing Runaway Skateboard Dies After Being Hit By Bus In Bayside, Police Said

He had dropped the skateboard and chased it onto Union Turnpike.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A man died after he chased a runaway skateboard into a Queens road and was hit by an MTA bus, police said.

Kevin Zeng, 25, was taken to Jamaica Hospital with head injuries after being clipped by the passenger side of the Q46 on Union Turnpike at Grand Central Parkway around 6:30 p.m. on July 21, police said. He was pronounced dead about 10:20 p.m.

The NYPD said he had been walking on the sidewalk when he dropped his skateboard and it rolled into the road.

Police said the bus driver tried to swerve but was unable to avoid Zeng, who lived on Bell Boulevard.
