Man Goes On Anti-Asian Rant, Assaults Bayside Man In 7-Eleven
The NYPD's hate crimes task force is investigating the encounter in Bayside last weekend, which was captured on video.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A man went on a racist rant against Asian people in a Bayside 7-Eleven, then assaulted a shopper who caught him on camera.
The NYPD's hate crimes task force is investigating the June 13 encounter, which unfolded inside a 7-Eleven at 218-01 Northern Blvd.
No one has been arrested as of Monday, a police spokesperson told Patch.

Sungmin Kwon, 23, stopped inside the 7-Eleven that evening to pick up popcorn when he heard the man go on a tirade blaming Asians for the coronavirus pandemic, he wrote in a Facebook post about the incident.
After Kwon confronted the man, then started recording, the man called him an anti-Asian slur and pushed him to the ground.

He posted the video on Facebook, where it has since been shared hundreds of times.
"I put the video up because I wanted to send the message of how disgusting racism is, and it's still alive and well no matter where you are," Kwon said . "I want racists to think twice before verbally and physically assaulting an individual.”
