New Map Plots Pedestrian Deaths In Bayside
An anti-automobile group produced a map showing the tri-state area's most dangerous roads.

A group which seeks to decrease car dependency is reminding New Yorkers that an automobile isn't just a way to get around, but can also be a weapon.
The Tri-State Transportation Campaign used federal data to as produce a map of pedestrian deaths that occured between 2008 and 2010. The most dangerous road in Northeast Queens was found to be Union Turnpike. Northern Boulevard also saw two fatalities within the Bayside Village alone.
A pink bulb on the map marks the traffic fatality a senior age 60 or older, whereas a blue marking represents a deceased person between the ages of 16 and 59. A green bulb represents a dead child.
