Monday mornin, it was all I hoped it would be.

As commuters emerge from houses, duplexes and apartments across Little Neck, one can almost hear a barely-perceptible sigh from the throngs waiting for the 9:12 train to Penn Station or in the queue at the gas pump at the BP station on Horace Harding. 

Another weekend is history. 

For those who hold 9 to 5, Monday through Friday employment, this time can be one of great disappointment — with errands not made, friends not seen, quality time in short supply with loved ones after a weekend that always seems too brief.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

Mondays don't have to be filled with regret: that is, if we try harder next time to make every minute of our "leisure" time count. So here's to next weekend — the countdown to which starts now.

1. Mike Repole, a 1991 alumnus and co-founder of the Vitamin Water brand, spoke at St. John's commencement ceremony at the school's Queens campus Sunday.
