Music Zoo Finds New Habitat

The longtime Little Neck music store is shifting its operations to Roslyn.

After 17 years at its post on Northern Boulevard, the Music Zoo is relocating to Roslyn.

The store, which attracts guitar enthusiasts from miles around with its high-end wares, has simply become too small to keep up with demand, said Dan Puglisi, one of Music Zoo's managers.

"We've grown tremendously in the past 17 years, and we're way out of space," he said. "The timing is right, we found a cool spot... everything fell into place."

Music Zoo primarily operates as an internet business, and and ships some 20 guitars across the globe daily. Nevertheless, the store is in the process of liquidating its stock in preparation for the move, which Puglisi estimates will happen in the middle of July.

Though many locals will surely lament the loss of such a stalwart Little Neck institution, they'd do well to dry their eyes and take advantage of some of the store's breathtaking deals. Puglisi holds up a Fender Road Worn Series Precision Bass, which normally sells for $1,100. Music Zoo is parting with it for $750.

"Yeah, it's like that," he said, in response to my incredulous gape. "If you want something, now's the time."

Of course, customers can continue to visit Music Zoo down the road in Roslyn at 55 Lumber Rd., and at musiczoo.com.
