No Bayside-Whitestone Lions Club Meeting Today

We love when you share your events with our readers! Here are some guidelines.

In our best effort to prevent people from turning up at the Bayside-Whitestone Lions meeting at the wrong time, we must announce that the event date was errantly posted by a member of the group. The group's next meeting is on March 7, not this evening. We've been meaning to talk to our users about events, so thanks, Paul Vallone, for bringing that to our attention and raising the opportunity.

We don't just labor over our events section at Patch, we love our events section.

And when I want to get out on a Saturday night, but not too far, I check the Bayside Patch events section—and also our fabulous .

Most recently, I went with a friend to see an Irish rock band  after reading about it on our site.

Our events section is a great social resource, and you're all invited to both browse and post. Browse freely and often, but when posting, please follow these guidelines:

1. Check your dates and addresses

When you post something, others are going to see it. And more than likely, many will turn out for an event you're posting. Be sure to double check dates, times, pricing and addresses.

2. Let's keep it local

Anyone at all is invited to post events each month in our events section—so long as the event is within a short drive of Bayside. A good benchmark is under 30 minutes. The reason for this is obvious: we're all about keeping it local.

3. Upload photos or fliers

You are by no means required to upload a photo or PDF along with your event listing, but we suggest it. It will increase your event's visibility.

4. Spread the word

Once you've posted your listing on Patch, post the link on your own or your organization's facebook page.

You can post an event on Patch by creating a , signing in and clicking "post your own event " on our home page.

If you need any help, you should definitely email Calendar Editor Liliana De Jesus at Liliana.dejesus@patch.com. She's a very fun, helpful lady. Sometimes, if a user is having a lot of trouble, she'll even post the event for them.

And if you're a business or organization with stuff going on every day or week that you want to announce, you should email another fun and helpful lady, our Ad Manager, Dawn Andrew, at Dawn.andrew@patch.com

Happy posting!
