Northeast Queens Private High School Named Among Best In New York

The northeast Queens school was also named among the 20 most diverse private high schools in the state. Find out which school it is here.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A northeast Queens school was named among the 125 best private high schools in New York, according to a newly update list of the state's best private high schools.

The St. Francis Preparatory School, located in Fresh Meadows on the border of Bayside, was ranked number 116 on Niche.com's ranking of New York's best private high schools for the 2021-2022 academic year. It is one of nine Queens schools that earned a spot in the list's top 125, though only four of those schools cracked the list's top 100.

As in years past, the Best Private High Schools rankings are "based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents," according to Niche. Ranking factors include SAT/ACT scores, the quality of colleges that students consider, student-teacher ratio, private school ratings, and more.

The data is sourced from the U.S. Department of Education, Niche users, and the schools directly.

While Queens' showing on Niche's list paled in comparison to Manhattan or Brooklyn, the World's Borough has received accolades for its schools in the past — including its public schools.

In April, Townsend Harris High School in Kew Gardens Hills, was named the best in New York State, and the 12th best nationally according to a U.S. News and World Report list.
