NY 6th Congressional District Result: Grace Meng Wins

Grace Meng trounced Green Party challenger Tom Hillgardner to return to the House for a fourth term.

BAY SIDE, QUEENS — Incumbent Democrat Rep. Grace Meng will return to the House for a fourth term representing New York's 6th Congressional District.

Meng, whose sprawling district represents Bayside, Forest Hills, Elmhurst, Flushing and Kew Gardens, trounced Green Party challenger Tom Hillgardner with more than 90 percent of the vote, according to city Board of Elections data.

Hillgardner, an attorney who runs a private practice focusing on tenant law, held onto 9.2 percent of the vote, Board of Elections data shows.

Veterans issues have been central to Meng's platform, as Queens has the highest population of veterans in the city. She has also worked to make college tuition free for working families and opposes cuts to health care and Social Security.
