WHITESTONE, QUEENS — A northeast Queens bagel shop has received the venerable title of New York City's most popular bagel spot, according to a new list.

New Yorkers placed more orders at Utopia Bagels, located at 1909 Utopia Parkway, than any other bagel shop citywide in 2021, according to newly-released Grubhub data.

The compact store might look unassuming from the outside, but it's consistently named among the city's best bagel shops, churning out 70,000 boiled-and-baked bagels on-average per week for hungry customers, co-owner Scott Spellman says.

From 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, Utopia Bagels serves up fresh bagels (from blueberry to everything) with cream cheese.

Grubhub found that New Yorkers' favorite bagel flavor is everything, followed by cinnamon, onion, and blueberry — all of which are on the menu at Utopia Bagels (and available for shipping nationwide).

For New Yorkers who prefer bagel sandwiches, most go for the classic bacon egg and cheese or lox with scallion spread, Grubhub says. Egg and cheese bagels (for the meat averse), or B.L.T sandwiches (for the meat lovers) are the next most-popular orders, data shows.

Iterations of these, and an array of more eccentric sandwiches, are on Utopia Bagel's 30-sandwich long menu, too.

Queens residents who don't want to trek to Whitestone (though, by all accounts it's worth doing so) can get a bagel at another one of the borough's popular bagel shops: Astoria's Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company is the city's third-most popular bagelry, followed by Forest Hills Bagels in fourth spot, according to Grubhub.

Wherever you get your bagels, don't forget to order one on National Bagel Day, which is Saturday, Jan. 15.
