Man vs. Food host Adam Richman once referred to Press 195 as “a phenomenal sandwich place,” and Yelp reviews seem to solidify that notion. The sandwich-and-beer bar has also reportedly been named “the sandwich kings” by the Food Network. Open since 2002, Press serves sandwiches, burgers, Belgian fries — with an assortment of complementing sauces — and salads. Outdoor seating is reportedly best on summer days.

Address: 40-12 Bell Blvd.

New Orleans comes to Queens in the form of shrimp jambalaya, seafood gumbo and other Cajun eats at Bourbon Street. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, these dishes — paired with Bourbon Street’s specialty cocktails — will make Baysiders feel as though they’re dining in the streets of the French Quarter itself.

Veranda Restaurant & Cafe

Address: 208-01 Northern Blvd.

Veranda is a bistro-style restaurant offering contemporary American dishes served with a Mediterranean twist amid an upscale-casual atmosphere, per the Veranda website. The menu offers seasonal fare that is made with fresh ingredients, supported by a hand-picked wine list and selection of cocktails. Veranda turns classics such as steak, salmon, kobe beef burgers and mac-n-cheese into its own “Veranda style,” the website states.

One Patch reader lauded Veranda for zucchini chips, and Yelpers seem to agree, tacking on with compliments to Veranda’s arugula salad, shrimp diablo pasta and brunch menu. “It gives a different vibe because of the outdoor seating and the umbrellas,” one person described.

Allora Italian Kitchen & Bar

Address: 210-35 26th Ave.

Allora is praised for its spacious outdoor dining area, where one Yelper enjoyed the restaurant’s jalapeño watermelon margarita. Allora is a self-described family-style restaurant, featuring an authentic Italian menu with a variety of house-made dishes, such as pastas, sausages, charcuterie and brick oven pizzas. But there’s more to Allora than meets the eye.

The restaurant’s extensive dessert menu is a thing to behold, between the s’mores pizza and Nutella tart to a list of “wacky shakes.” There’s Candy Land, a strawberry ice cream base with cotton candy, Pixy Stix, gummy poppers, Nerds and a rainbow marshmallow pop. And then, there’s Mars Attacks, a caramel foundation loaded with bits of Milky Way, chopped Snickers, Three Musketeers, Twix and chocolate pretzels.

Avli

Address: 38-31 Bell Blvd.

Yelp reviews describe Avli’s outdoor dining area as “super cute,” but details reveal the large, overhead umbrellas that offer an intimately shaded atmosphere to summer diners. A full view of the backyard area is seen on Avli’s website. The menu includes dishes “from the sea,” wraps and sandwiches, soups, desserts and daily Greek specials.
