Owls or City Plowcam

January 8, 2011

How's the weather treating you, Bayside? Here are five things you need to know for your Saturday:

1. The mayor plowers. Maybe now they'll plow more than yelling at your kid and never having a ride home.

2. Why rely on the city's spies when we have vigilant Bayside citizen photographers? Bayside was the best about sending in storm photos, reporting snags in the road and plowers they saw in (delicately:) repose. Let's play watchdog to the city's watchdogging. Send us your photos and scoops to Lori.Gross@patch.com

3. While you're out with your camera, doing some adult snow frolicking, take the kids here:  is a part of Alley Pond Environmental Center's Weekend Drop-Off Program. Kids ages 8 through 12 stay today, while parents go.

4. Or, for your younger kids there's, , geared to potty-trained 3  and 4 year olds. Dress the kids for outdoor snow play! Layers! Water impervious gloves, not wool. Those things will get soaked, and then your poor baby will be wet and cold.
