Instead of being an editor's pick, this week we deferred our Patch Picks to our local librarians. We asked several local libraries to name their favorite books, either children's or adult.
We learned that librarians really can be a shy bunch. Though friendly, they might not always like being put on the spot. We also learned that our local librarians favor books of a Middle Eastern milieu, as reflected by the first three picks.
The first two come from Judy Gordon, of the of the Queens Library. The third and fourth picks come from Qamar Jaffrey and Ron Wan respectively, both of the Queens Library Douglaston-Little Neck branch.

Our last, but not least appreciated pick, was solicited just over the Nassau border, from Janet Schneider of the Great Neck Library.
