Pedestrian Dies After Car Crash On Bell Boulevard: NYPD

The Oakland Gardens woman died three days after a driver crashed into her, steps away from her Bell Boulevard apartment building.

OAKLAND GARDENS, QUEENS — An Oakland Gardens woman died Sunday, three days after a driver crashed into her steps away from her Bell Boulevard apartment building, according to the police.

Deborah Scherer was crossing Bell Boulevard at the intersection of 75th Avenue the evening of Feb. 6 when a driver made a left turn onto the boulevard and slammed into the woman, police said Thursday.

Scherer, 64, was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens hospital with severe head trauma, where she died from her injuries three days later, according to police.

The driver, a 48-year-old woman in a 2012 Toyota Corolla, was unharmed and faces no charges.

The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.
