Man Fatally Struck By Train Near Little Neck LIRR Station
A man was fatally struck by a Long Island Rail Road train between the Little Neck and Great Neck stations early Monday, officials said.

LITTLE NECK, QUEENS — A person died after he was hit by a Long Island Rail Road train between the Little Neck and Great Neck stations early Monday, transit officials said.
The man was struck about 5:40 a.m. in an apparent suicide, an LIRR official told Patch.
Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on the scene.

The MTA suspended service on the LIRR's Port Washington line for nearly an hour after the incident, according to agency social media updates.
At least one train was canceled and others experienced residual delays, snarling commutes into the city during peak morning rush hour.

Officials halted service east of the Bayside LIRR station for more than an hour following the incident.
Service on the Port Washington line was back on schedule by 10:30 a.m., the agency said on Twitter.
