Queens Farm Launching NYC's Largest Collection Of Beehives
The Queens County Farm Museum is working with Cornell University to create the largest apiary in New York City.

FLORAL PARK, QUEENS — It's the bee's knees.
The Queens County Farm Museum is teaming up with Cornell University’s Dyce Lab for Honey Bee Studies and beekeeper Andrew Coté to create the largest single apiary in New York City.
When finished, the apiary will hold 50 beehives that will be home to over two million bees and will increase the farm's production of honey tenfold, to about 3,000 pounds a year, according to a news release.

Beehives from the top of the InterContinental New York Barclay, Brooks Brothers and the New York Institute of Technology are being relocated to the Queens Farm to form part of the new apiary.
“The newly expanded apiary will help establish Queens Farm as a leading center for environmental research, Jennifer Walden Weprin, executive director of Queens County Farm Museum, said. “We are very proud of our Queens Bees.”
