Saint Mary's Girls Earn Girl Scout Sashes

Saint Mary's girls learned life lessons and made friends.

Girls in K-8th grade attending Pediatric Day Healthcare program earned their sashes after completing a six-week Girl Scouts program.

The Girl Scouts workshop series included activities to help the girls—who suffer from injuries, unfortunate illnesses and complications from premature birth—to recognize their talents, make good choices, learn values and life skills, as well as make friends.

The kids celebrated their accomplishment in front of their families, and staff.

"St. Mary’s staff is looking forward to the day the girls become an official troop and are able to participate in other Girl Scout activities," said a spokesman for the hospital. They also plan to begin a similar program for the boys of St. Mary’s.
