BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Nearly a hundred people gathered at Fort Totten Park midday Tuesday to protest the killing of George Floyd at the hands of Minnesota police and to demand an end to police brutality.
The protesters marched peacefully alongside Cross Island Parkway toward Bell Boulevard as officers from the NYPD's 111th and 109th Precincts walked with them.

Protesters turned out even though word spread that the demonstration had been canceled last-minute, after an organizer said that NYPD's planned presence at the protest "is not something I am willing to risk," according to an anonymous social media post.
