Should The City Keep Engaging In Stop And Frisk? [POLL]

Yesterday we has come out against stop-and-frisk tactics used by NYPD.

A stop-and-frisk occurs when an offer believes a person is suspicious. The officer is empowered to stop that individual, and search them for anything incriminating.

When Deputy Mayor Howard Wolfson was asked by reporter Azi Paybarah on twitter if stop-and-frisk tactics could be attributed to a decrease in crime over the past decade, Wolfson responded, "bottom line is that strategies over the last decade have worked."

City officials point to a 50 percent drop in murders over the past decade, according to Gothamist.

But many find the tactic to be racist, pointing to the of minorities who are targetted for seatch. Many also believe it to be unlawful under the Constitution. 

"Ray Kelly's NYPD policy is patently racist and unconstitutional," said attorney and activist Steve Behar, adding, "Having brown skin is not "probable cause" under our Constitution."
