Even with only one closing on a Little Neck property in the last week — a five bedroom raised ranch on 248th Street — realtors may finally have something to celebrate.

In a closely watched indicator of the real estate market, the U.S. employment picture turned much rosier today with the release of this jobs report showing an increase of 244,000 in hiring nationwide.

That may suggest that potential buyers, feeling secure in their own employment, will feel more comfortable making what is for many the biggest purchase of their lives.

As for a noticeable improvement in the region's moribund housing market, it's likely to be a game of wait-and-see for some months to come.
